Truth Always Prevails is the memoir of one most prominent businessman of Pakistan, Sadruddin Hashwani, chairman of the internationally recognized Hashoo Group. In his book on page 248 to be more precise, he bashed Zardari, in a very convincing manner ……….. cheers.

In retaliation, acting chairman of Pakistan People Party (PPP) and former president Asif Ali Zardari has filed a defamation suit in Sindh High Court (SHC) against the author of “The Truth Always Prevails” Sadrudin Hashwani Chairman of Hashoo Group, for “willfully publishing a false, derogatory and vexatious compendium full of blatant lies” just to damage his reputation (what reputation exactly we are talking about here?). The legal notice drafted by Senator Farooq H. Naek, senior advocate Supreme Court, was served to the author along with the publishers. Where as a PPP spokes person call for a press conference and created a Melo drama, to me it was sheer mockery of justice, so, that they could prove their chairman to be innocent …… I mean innocent …….. for heaven’s sake, this could only happen in Pakistan.

As the rule of this system “the might is right”, the book is not available anywhere in the market. Publisher is also facing heat along with author of the book and it was forcefully removed from an unknown source (we all know by whom). People of Pakistan should have every right to know the truth in this regard.

I don’t know when you talk about freedom of speech according to Article 19 of the constitution what you actually meant by it (Double Standards) .This whole situation is very disappointing. A man who is a business tycoon and has done so much for his country is facing heat for such a sin that he speak the truth out loud………… I really wish to see more people expose Zardari in a very same passion ………… Zulfiqar Mirza is just a beginning I presume 🙂

ISLAMABAD: I joined The News Rawalpindi as chief reporter just ten days before it came out on February 11, 1991 and am thus amongst its pioneers. I worked in this position for seven years. My 22-year experience (excluding one-year’s dissociation) qualifies me to talk to some extent how The News works, how news reports and analyses are handled, how far Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman (MSR), Group Editor-in-Chief, gets his “hidden agenda” implemented through me and others and how far he sets the “agenda”.

The agenda, if any, can’t remain concealed from a journalist like me who files at least one story every day even on Sundays. Shrewd journalists, who are in abundance in this media house, have the acumen, knack and ability on the basis of their experience to sense any kind of agenda they are asked to implement. Only fools can argue that Group Editor-in-Chief is engaged in “agenda setting” while sitting abroad. They don’t know or they know but are not speaking truth why he is sitting abroad.

As chief reporter, I vividly remember not to have ever got any direction or prompting from Group Editor-in-Chief to do a specific story or get it done by any other reporter working under me to target any individual or group of individuals, any political party or a private concern.

Whatever interaction I had with Group Editor-in-Chief, I have found him extremely less meddling. However, he will not hesitate to intervene when some story is one-sided. His passion that he translates into reality every day is that nobody should be condemned unheard and every side’s version must be incorporated. He makes it a point even in the case of those who hurl abuses over him that their denials and clarifications are duly published with the concerned reporter’s version.

Long time ago, one of our reporters brought a scoop against the mega business concern of one of Group Editor-in-Chief’s friends. Group Editor-in-Chief did not trash the story, but desired that the business magnet’s point of view should be taken. Finally, the story was front-paged in The News although the editor-in-chief had his relations marred with his friend.

During my 22-year association, I have never come to know of any agenda that Group Editor-in-Chief has against any individual or institution what to talk about anything against the supreme national interest. The moment I and several of my colleagues will get even a minor hint about anything detrimental to Pakistan that Group Editor-in-Chief wanted to do us would quit the organisation. One fact that the mudslingers don’t note is that the media house is a mirror and it can’t hide anything because whatever it says or prints is before everybody next moment or morning. What is this agenda all about that is so under the wraps that it is hidden from its journalists and the readers or viewers. There are a number of instances that some reporters working with the investigation cell stubbornly declined to do stories because they were not convinced about the information provided to them. Some time back, one of our relatively junior reporters even visited Karachi in connection with such a story and when he came back he was not convinced with the information given to him by a tycoon, and he refused to do the story. And he didn’t do it. He earned no reprimand from anyone, including Group Editor-in-Chief, despite the fact that the Group Editor-in-Chief said he had not been taking the telephone calls of the industrialist friend for some time.

Even more recently, another reporter wanted to do a story on the tax paid by all the media houses after the release of the tax directory of individuals and companies. When Group Editor-in-Chief came to know, he voluntarily provided to the reporter all the details of the tax paid by the Jang Group and did not mind his effort to do the story.

However, it could not be done because the correspondent failed to get the details of taxes paid by other media houses.

Even these days when Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has subjected the Jang Group to a barrage of baseless allegations, Group Editor-in-Chief stopped one of my stories that talked about the forfeiture of security deposits of PTI candidates and how many seats this party did not even contest in the 2013 general elections. Another story that exposed the political background of two members of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority went unpublished.

However, whenever a story is not published, the reporter freely, rather aggressively, discusses its contents with Group Editor-in-Chief and insists on its publication. Most of the time, he is convinced when the argument is strong. There is no media house owner in Pakistan who has so much tolerance and patience to listen to the counter arguments of reporters.

The freedom of press available to them can be a dream only in other groups. I never found Group Editor-in-Chief imposing his opinion or stand on me or anybody else. He will always carefully listen and respond in an amicable and humble manner. While talking to him, one never felt that one was talking to the editor-in-chief/owner of the media house.

What I have observed during my long association is that he always respects and solidly stands with the journalists who deliver and consistently work. He is fond of having a variety of views in his newspapers and Geo television. He feels something missing when the other view is not published or aired. It has always been comfortable to work with the Group Editor-in-Chief.

ISLAMABAD: We are partners in Aman ki Asha, is what the then Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief had stated in the presence of the then Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) director general just before the launch of the Jang Group and Times of India’s joint venture peace campaign, writes Ahmad Noorani.

The ISI was not only fully informed of the objectives and strategy of the Aman Ki Asha (AKA) initiative before its launch but the military, through the ISPR, continuously remained in touch with many activities of the venture. In case of events relating to security, detailed discussions were held with the ISPR.

The information wing of the military also always remained appreciative of the great results produced by this peace initiative for people and governments of both the countries. Contrary to the treason allegations by a party, details reveal that that the Jang Group never took any money from any government, organisation or individual for this great peace initiative.

According to top Jang Group editors, if anybody has any information or any proof he/she must come forward and present it to the people. However, people working for the ISI are now terming Hamid Mir, Geo and the Jang Group traitors because of Aman ki Asha.

A majority of those levelling this allegation against Hamid Mir and Geo on the social media belong to a political party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Ironically, none of the senior PTI leaders has distanced the party from this campaign. PTI leaders have remained closely associated with the AKA campaign. Shafqat Mehmood was the first AKA ambassador and Asad Umar was chairman of the energy committee.

PTI chief Imran Khan had strongly condemned the life attempt on Hamid Mir right after the attack. Imran enjoys very good personal relationship with the inured anchorperson and often appears in his popular talk show.

It should be noted that the Geo/Jang Group has already responded several times to allegations levelled against it. Its response was available on its website, social media and also published many a time in the print media.

The allegations against the Geo/Jang Group were levelled by a particular channel and its anchor and afterwards another channel joined this vilification campaign. The Geo/Jang Group was termed traitors and agents of the ‘Indians and Jews’. The Geo/Jang Group moved the courts against the accusers who did not submit reply in the courts. Zaid Hamid aka Lal Topi Wala did not appear in the courts. The Geo/Jang Group stand would soon be vindicated in the courts, Inshallah.

A few media people clearly have designs against the Jang Group. They invite guests who give the impression that the Geo/Jang Group is being bribed by the US and the UK governments. The anchors do not question the guests. They should have done their research and objected to this trend as the Geo/Jang Group point of view is available on its websites, social media and newspapers. But because they have designs against the Geo/Jang Group, they do not raise any questions.

The fact of the matter is that there is no parallel to the Geo/Jang Group in Pakistani media. This Group has, Mashallah, remarkably expanded over the years. According to national and international surveys, the Geo/Jang Group has 60 pc to 72 percent hold on the market. It has been recognised at the national and international level as the oldest, most influential and credible media group of Pakistan. It is the distinction of the Geo/Jang Group that it challenged almost all government, military or civilian, whenever they committed corruption, acted against the rule of law or indulged in misgovernance. As a result it lost revenue of billions of rupees as its ads were stopped and channels banned.

Shahrukh Hasan, chief of the Aman Ki Asha campaign and senior director of the Jang Group, who represents the Pakistan side on Aman ki Asha told this scribe that when the Jang Group decided to take this peace initiative for the betterment and economic uplift of the common people of both countries, it held in-depth consultative discussions with many stakeholders. He said that the then Pakistan High Commissioner in New Delhi, Shahid Malik had given this wonderful suggestion that to further such a peace initiative, the Jang Group should try to initiate it as joint venture with the Times of India as it was most hawkish Indian media group with a clear anti-Pakistan stance.

Shahrukh Hasan said that the Jang Group spoke to the then Prime Minister of Pakistan, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and handed over written details of the objectives, partners and strategy of AKA. After thorough consultations, the prime minister appreciated and endorsed the peace initiative and promised unreserved government support. He also recommended that the institution of the armed forces should also be taken into confidence.

Hasan said that the Jang Group formally met the then DG ISPR, Gen Athar Abbas, and provided him a copy of the formal advice given to the prime minister. Gen Athar Abbas said he would inform the DG ISI and chief of army staff (COAS).

“In a meeting in Lahore with DG ISI Ahmad Shuja Pasha, I briefed him completely on the peace initiative in presence of Maj Gen Athar Abbas,” Hasan said, adding: “Gen Pasha was not averse to the proposal but raised many questions on different aspects which were all answered.”

Hasan said that Gen Pasha was completely satisfied with everything and he only said that the issue of Kashmir was a security issue and was not a subject to media people, and the stated position of Pakistan should not be compromised.

Hasan said that Gen Pasha was informed that Aman ki Asha has nothing to do with the signing of any agreements which is the prerogative of the government, and that this venture would simply facilitate any attempts of showing flexibility on different issues for the equitable resolution of long-standing disputes, including Kashmir and water.

Hasan said that the establishment itself suggested to the Jang Group to appoint Lt Gen Mehmud Ali Durani as security adviser as he was well versed with the government of Pakistan’s and establishment’s point of view on security issues, specially Kashmir.

The ISPR appreciated the involvement of General Durani in all ‘strategic conferences’ organised by AKA.

Hasan said that when he met DG ISI General Pasha in Lahore, he (Pasha), in the presence of Gen Athar stood up, offered his hand to him (Hasan) and said, “We are partners in Aman ki Asha.”

Not only this, the draft of every activity and interaction regarding security related issues was also shared with the ISI and Pakistan Army through Gen Mehmud Ali Durani. Hasan said that Gen Durani, after checking and editing the draft, would share it with the DG ISI and in some cases even with the COAS, and would inform them that he was going to do that specific activity.

Senior officials of Military Intelligence (MI) attended several events where security issues were discussed or where former DG RAW, former senior military officers of India and former DG ISI were involved. This was with the knowledge and concurrence of the Jang Group. ‘The News’ has confirmed that arrival of the former DG RAW in Pakistan was with the complete consent and approval of all the concerned institutions.

Not only this, the Jang Group also spoke to all the leading political forces, including the PML-N, JI, MQM, and all endorsed Jang Group’s peace initiative. Hasan said that Aman ki Asha pushed three objectives: The equitable resolution of long standing disputes through discussion and dialogue; advocating economic collaboration as a powerful driver of the peace process; and greater people-to-people contacts. Hasan said that AKA has successfully made great attempts to bring the top business and industry forums of both countries closer.

Jang Group spent money at its own for all activities in Pakistan while the Times of India bore expenditure of all events which took place in India.

Hasan said that he came to know people were alleging that the Jang Group has accepted a big amount of money from some Norwegian NGO ‘Friends without Borders’. Hasan said he had heard the name of the NGO for the first time and immediately googled it. After taking the addresses of the NGO, Hasan said, he sent an email to the NGO informing them about the allegations being levelled on Pakistan’s biggest media group and asked it to clarify the actual position. Hasan said that NGO ‘Friends without Borders’ replied that it was aware of the great peace initiative of ‘Aman ki Asha’ and was following its progress with great pleasure and confirmed that it never made any financial contribution to AKA or the Jang Group, and that was the NGO’s first contact with the Jang Group.

Similarly, Hasan disclosed, Commonwealth officials termed Aman ki Asha as the biggest peace initiative ever and flew to Pakistan to discuss details of this great project and invited the Jang Group and Times of India to come and make a presentation before the Commonwealth heads of government meeting at Perth.

Hasan said that whenever some governments contacted the Jang Group to support its great peace initiative, financially or otherwise, the Group always declined and always requested powerful governments to facilitate the peace process at an official level by convincing governments on both sides to resolve disputes.

Shahrukh Hasan explained that whole dynamics of regional politics and social and economic life in this region would be changed in case of the success of Aman ki Asha. “When we visited the European Union to discuss Aman ki Asha, they told us that before creation of the Union, the European countries had to depend on others and there was only mutual trade of 23 percent which after the establishment of the European Union touched 77 percent and no member country has to depend on the outer world. Hasan said that keeping aside India and Pakistan trade, there is only 4 percent mutual trade in this whole region.

Hasan told ‘The News’ that mutual trade between India and Pakistan is merely $2.5 billion. Conservative estimates show that if we open trade the total volume of trade between the two countries would touch $20 within 12 months. This will bring stability to the region. Because of the standoff between India and Pakistan, the economies of the countries of the region, including Pakistan, are shattered. In case of the improvement of the situation, there will be a paradigm shift in the sectors of education, social development, health, poverty alleviation etc in all countries of the region, especially Pakistan, which is suffering the most.

According to a study of Harvard University, Pakistan spent billions on wasteful expenditures like debt servicing and interest payments due on purchase of weapons. If there are peace agreements and there are no chances of war, the purchases of weapons would be decreased to minimum required level which would save billions and billions of money that could be spent on social development for construction of roads, bridges, roads.

Hasan said that hundreds of hospitals and thousands of schools could be made by saving this money which we spend on payment of interest on loans taken for purchase of weapons. Clean drinking water, sewerage systems would be improved and humanity could be saved from fatal diseases.

 Great benefits of Aman ki Asha:

Surveys conducted in India before the launch of Aman ki Asha and one year afterwards showed great results and not only Pakistan’s image as a State was improved among common Indian citizens but even most of the Indians came to know the position of Pakistan on different controversial issues. When Indians were asked before the launch of Aman ki Asha about the first idea come to their mind after hearing the name of Pakistan, 59 percent had said ‘terrorism’. On the question that whether they knew the point of view of Pakistan on issue of Kashmir, only 4 percent had said ‘yes’.

However, when the same questions were asked after one year of launch of Aman ki Asha, only 29 percent people said that first idea came to their mind after hearing word ‘Pakistan’ is ‘terrorism’ and 17 percent people said that they were aware of Pakistan’s viewpoint on Kashmir.

The ISI and military leadership was informed of all these developments and was astonished of such wonderful results delivered by Aman ki Asha initiative. The largest media association on the world – International News Media Association – described AKA as the best example of the role of the media as an agent of change and awarded the campaign its highest award the ‘Best in Class’ Award.

It is crucially important to mention here that though many PTI leaders are attacking Hamid Mir and Geo and Jang Group on count of running the Aman ki Asha initiative, Imran Khan himself had appreciated this peace initiative on the floor of the National Assembly and had paid tributes to the Geo and Jang Group.

It is ironical that the ISI and its people like Zaid Hamid and also PTI supporters are now terming Hamid Mir and Geo/Jang Group and its staff traitors because of the Group’s peace initiative Aman ki Asha.

People working for ‘hidden hands’ — like Zaid Hamid or its wings like PTI — earlier started levelling these allegations on the social media but later PTI chief Imran Khan unleashed an unbelievable attack on Pakistan’s biggest media group terming it anti-Pakistan. Imran crossed all limits of fairness and decency while pleasing his ‘friends’, completely forgetting that poor Hamid Mir had given this statement in written and with great details.

It is important to mention that the Pakistani nation is now easily recognise by these hidden hands.

A majority of those levelling this allegation against Hamid Mir and Geo on the social media belong the PTI or claim their affiliation with the political party by using the party’s name or by using the Party chief Imran Khan’s pictures and are being followed by the party’s senior persons.

The PTI chief on November 11, 2013, said that unwarranted criticism of those striving for promotion of peace between Pakistan and India to the collective good of the people of two nuclear neighbours was not a mature approach.

Speaking in the National Assembly, Imran Khan had said Geo media group of Pakistan was straining every nerve to bring about détente between Pakistan and India through the ‘Aman ki Asha’ programme and this sincere effort should not be misunderstood as though they had made friends with Narendra Modi.

“We should appreciate such efforts and shun negativism.”

Imran had deplored that different theories were propounded by spin doctors in the country. Not only this, Imran Khan participated in an Aman ki Asha programme on May 8, 2012, and applauded the efforts of Jang Group for a great cause.

ISLAMABAD: The PTI chief Imran Khan was badly trapped by his own lies and had to change the reason of his boycott of Geo News for the fifth time during Sunday’s protest rally at D-Chowk, Islamabad.

In his speech, the PTI chief simply forgot, or conveniently avoided mentioning, that former chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry had rigged the elections or the PTI had boycotted Geo “as the channel had rigged the May 11 polls for the PML-N”.

Imran has claimed many times in TV programmes and public rallies with full certainty that not only his party will sweep the May 11, 2013 general elections but he (Imran) will be the prime minister and he has even informed his children about this. However, Imran and party had to face worst ever defeat during polls and its total number of seats were even less than the three times of the total seats of the opposition party in previous assembly.

Imran and few leaders of his party had started allegations of rigging during the May 11 polls since the beginning but more than 90 percent of candidates of his party were 100 percent sure of their defeat. While there is nominal expense for filing a petition about any irregularity during the elections process, around two dozen PTI candidates from about a total of 450 national and provincial assembly seats of Punjab opted to file petitions for rigging and that too after the party’s instructions. Rest of the candidates, more than 90%, were sure that they were badly rejected by the people of Pakistan so they never moved appeals. However, it was a great problem for the PTI chief to justify whatever he had said in programmes and public rallies regarding his becoming the prime minister.

While Imran Khan mostly remained quite during the last one year about rigging, he continued making demand of thumb impression verification in four National Assembly constituencies with different intervals. However, astonishing and thrilling side of his demand was that he was continuously rejecting a similar demand of the PML-N for similar verifications on some constituencies where the PTI had won. This mysterious behaviour of the PTI chief became biggest hurdle in issuing of any order from any competent authority for such verifications as Imran was not getting ready for verifications on the seats from where his party had won the May 11 elections and for obvious reasons.

To save his face from the public for the lies he has spoken before the general public, Imran first of all alleged judiciary of its involvement in rigging. However, the Supreme Court immediately issued him a contempt of court notice and he had to save his political career by telling a lie that in fact he was referring to returning officers who were also junior judicial officers. However, poor Imran Khan took a big U-turn right after the retirement of former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and openly refuted his previous publicly made statements and said that the chief justice was involved in rigging. The most important fact of the whole story is that the governments of both the PML-N and PPP consulted with the PTI chief while forwarding names for the caretaker governments in the Centre and provinces. Imran had showed his full confidence in Punjab caretaker chief minister Najam Sethi even in recorded statements and interviews. Imran, who was a regular guest of Geo News programmes since the time no one used to invite him, continued to appear in Geo News programmes even after the polls.

However, after April 19 attack on senior journalist Hamid Mir and airing of statement of injured Hamid Mir that he was facing threats from DG-ISI, Imran suddenly turned against Geo/Jang Group and attacked the whole Geo/Jang Group and all its journalists. In a public speech, Imran went to the extent of saying that Geo/Jang Group was acting on anti-Pakistan agenda. This put lives of thousands of journalists and workers attached with the Geo/Jang Group and their families in danger. Few members even faced attacks but Geo/Jang group is still waiting for the outcome of a complaint lodged for its closure with the federal government and quietly facing all these attacks and threats after Imran Khan’ hate speech.

After citizens started raising questions to Imran Khan as to how Geo News rigged the polls, Imran got more and more infuriated because of questions coming from general public. Then in a programme when he was specifically asked to give reason of his boycott of Geo News, Imran said he has boycotted Geo News because of a social media message by senior journalist of Jang Group Umar Cheema. When Imran was questioned about this statement, he had to keep quite. Then in yet another other statement, Imran said he has not boycotted Geo because of rigging as people started asking him questions about statements made by him.

Imran, a few days back, also blamed institution of Pakistan Army for being part of rigging. He said that a Brigadier of military intelligence rigged polls in city of Lahore. He also promised to name the said Brigadier. However, maintaining record of his unfounded stand on issues, he could not name anyone in this regard.

Now finally, when Imran Khan was completely exposed and was not only unable to face Geo News senior anchorperson Iftikhar Ahmad to present evidences of his allegation of Geo News involvement in rigging or proving that Geo/Jang Group have acted on anti-Pakistan agenda, he came up with yet another new allegation that Geo/Jang Group was accepting money from USA/UK and conspiring against him. It is interesting that all his allegations came only after Geo News made allegation regarding attackers of Hamid Mir, who, in fact, according to reports of different judicial commissions, were also involved in attacks on other journalists. Imran is unaware that he will have to prove these allegations of taking of illegal money in court and otherwise he shall have to face long arm of the law. Imran and his party’s major source of funding are donations from USA, UK and other European countries according to his own statements and official websites of his party. People at large are badly disappointed after seeing Imran dancing to the tunes of hidden hands and levelling allegations of treason against Pakistan while he and his party receive major portion of funding from USA and UK which according to PTI’s own senior most members are misused and there is massive corruption in the party. No one from the PTI was ready to take call to explain position of the party on Imran’s changing allegations.

The Geo/Jang Group was termed traitor and agent of Indians and Jews. The Geo/Jang Group moved courts against the accusers who did not submit reply in the courts. Zaid Hamid aka Lal Topi Wala did not appear in the courts. The Geo/Jang Group’s stand would soon be vindicated in courts, Inshallah.

A few media people have designs against the Jang Group. They invite guests who give the impression that the Geo/Jang Group is being bribed by the US and the UK governments. The anchors did not question the guests. They should have carried out research and objected to this trend as the Geo/Jang Group’s point of view is available on websites, social media and newspapers. But because they have designs against the Geo/Jang Group, they do not raise any questions.

The fact of the matter is that there is no parallel to the Geo/Jang Group in the Pakistani media. This Group has, Mashallah, remarkably expanded. According to national and international surveys, the Geo/Jang Group has 60 pc to 72 pc hold on the market. It has been recognised on the national and international level as the oldest, most influential and credible media group of Pakistan. This is distinction of Geo/Jang Group that it challenged almost all governments, military or civilians, whenever they committed corruption, acted against rule of law or indulged in mis-governance. As a result it lost revenue of billions of rupees as its ads were stopped and channels banned.

Suleman Lalani, a senior executive of the group, said Imran’s allegations against Jang Group were now in a questioning tone.

“Imran pointed towards the “Voice of America” (VoA) programmes telecast by Geo News. These programmes never contained anything anti-Pakistan and Geo had full editorial control. Because of differences on some commercial arrangements and rates they could not continue with Geo and made arrangements with another channel “Express” which is still airing. Astonishingly and mysteriously, Imran hasn’t named Express which has been airing it since long. The VoA also has some projects with the PTV. All programmes of VoA were strictly in accordance with the Pakistani laws,” Lalani said.

Lalani said Express TV and some radios also had arrangements with the BBC but they were not traitors for Imran. “It proves he only wants to defame the Jang Group. We have written a letter to four US agencies inquiring about the money they have sent to Pakistani media organisations. These organisations include US Office of Management and Budget, US Great, Voice of America and US State Department. These organisations haven’t responded to our letter and thus we served a legal notice on them. We are hoping to get the details of money paid by these US organisations to different Pakistani media houses and we will make this detail public,” he said.

Lalani said it was strange that Imran Khan was attacking Geo’s campaign on education. “In Pakistan, more than 30 million children don’t go to school while only little above than 25 percent teachers come to teach. We have launched a campaign for educational reforms in Pakistan and for funds we gave a presentation to Duffett which though funded by the UK government is a completely independent body which takes decisions independently without accepting pressures. We developed a campaign with their help,” Lalani said, adding, “Not only this, we constituted a board of advisers for our guidance here which comprised Pakistan’s important and famous personalities and businessmen who advised us and we worked together for two years. These advisers also include Asad Umar who is vice president of Imran Khan’s party PTI. Arrival of funds for this tremendous educational campaign was aired on Pakistan Television, Radio Pakistan and other TV channels in addition to Geo and published in newspapers in addition to The News and Jang but Imran Khan did not name other channels and newspapers for obvious reasons.”

Whole of this activity is in accordance with the Pakistani laws. In all over the world foundations, trusts and NGOs receive funds on these grounds. These are funds, not donations, and the recipients have to work hard and do research. The donors ask many questions to get themselves satisfied about the transparency and honesty of the recipients.

In Pakistan different projects in different sectors as health, education, legal activity etc receive funds in this way. It is what happens in the whole world. Before elections Imran Khan claimed that he would not take funds from foreign countries. But after taking power in KPK by his party, he realised that there is no way to avoid these funds if the government wanted to serve the people. Pakistan is a poor developing country and no government can survive without such foreign support.

Lalani added: “KPMG and Price Waterhouse Cooper were auditors of this campaign. Both are world’s independent and credible institutions to check transparency, credibility and value for money. Such credible donors release money after complete scrutiny and knowing about the structure of the group and its transparent practices. We always paid taxes for all projects for which tax was applicable but still we face charges of not paying taxes. The accusers never presented any evidence. All such allegations are wrong and disturbing.”

Lalani maintained that Imran Khan himself collects huge amounts of money from the US, Canada and other European countries for his different projects and party by arranging big ceremonies for this purpose. In these ceremonies besides Jews, Christians, Muslims and Hindus also participate and donate for his projects. Besides collecting donations there he also continued to get donations through banks afterwards. Imran Khan starts good welfare projects with the help of these donations. This all is within the law, though some of his party members raised objections to it.

“Similarly, government institutions, army and many other organisations take funds from foreign donors for different projects.”

According to media reports, during some years one-third of CIA budget was given to Pakistan’s elite intelligence agency. Does it mean that these institutions are furthering anti-Pakistan agenda?

Lalani said that same allegations of taking money from foreign countries were also levelled by some Pemra officials and when we challenged the same in the Supreme Court all the accusers had to seek an unconditional apology but we haven’t granted the same and still demand provision of any evidence or those made accusations must be punished.

Lalani said details all accounts of MKRF (with which Imran Khan himself worked for flood relief for a long time) were available with the SECP and anybody could seek them. Pemra was provided with the record of all the money taken to air the programmes of VoA on Geo News. The point of view of Geo/Jang Group is present on the group’s websites and those hurling allegations should have moral courage to also air our point of view .

Regarding Imran Khan’s allegation of agenda setting, Lalani said it was terribly wrong, as journalists and other professionals work independently according to their will and understanding without any dictations.

Imran’s allegations that “owner set agenda after taking this money from abroad” is worst ever naked abuse to all journalists working with Geo and Jang Group. All the top journalists attached or remained attached with Geo and Jang Group need to come forward and respond to the allegation levelled by Imran.

Imran simply termed all journalists attached with Geo and Jang Group as “Bakaoo Maal” (saleable commodity) as according to him all these journalists and professionals work for money and blindly obey the orders of the top management of Geo and Jang Group and that they don’t have any self-respect, dignity or intellect.

All journalists and professionals attached or remained attached with Geo and Jang Group, according to PTI chief, only write as per American or UK agenda given to them by the owners of Geo and Jang Group. There could not be anything more shameful than this for a person like Imran Khan. He takes billions from the US and the UK and his own party members accuse the party of huge corruption and he is levelling allegations against the Pakistani citizens who have ego, dignity and love for their motherland, and, unlike Imran Khan, they never level allegations to please hidden hands and always write or say anything with evidence like Umar Cheema’s stories on Imran Khan properties which he can still challenge in a court of law

Editor Investigations The News Ansar Abbasi said it was no secret to the entire Pakistani media that the kind of independence Geo and Jang Group journalists enjoyed had no parallel. Not once, there are numerous occasions where journalists working for the group have been expressing their reservations and at times even opposition to the policies of the media house.

Some experts believe Imran is on the mission to mislead the nation on the instructions of some hidden hands which want to stage a comeback but want to silence the Geo News voice knowing that Geo/Jang Group always become the biggest hurdle to any unconstitutional move.

Some experts even see attack on Hamid Mir as part of this whole nefarious scheme. Dictatorship not only resulted in the breakup of Pakistan, but also gave Pakistan and poor Pakistanis gifts of terrorism, extremism, bigotry, Kalashnikov, heroin, religious fanatics and pushed the Pakistan on the verge of collapse. Politicians like Imran Khan were always used by such hidden forces and played havoc with the country. Interestingly, these hidden forces and puppet politicians like Imran Khan which were used by these forces always raised the slogans of patriotism and termed Pakistani citizens traitors.

Experts still remember Imran’s outright support for dictator Musharraf. Now these hidden hands have realised that they will never get power again and will have to work/act professionally as the present federal government will overcome the major problem of load-shedding within next two years and the economic condition of the country would also become much better which will bring an end to the role of these hidden hands in country’s politics forever.

These hidden hands also realize that because of some interval or peace, foreign investment and aid is coming now. For them these months are crucially important as if these days are passed and a democratic government is strengthened all their dreams will die. After all these realizations, the hidden hands have now started pulling the strings of puppets like Imran Khan to attack the democratic setup and issue decrees that there is no democracy in the country.

Schedules of countrywide protests have been announced by different parties in an obvious attempt to stop the present influx of foreign investment. The hidden hands know that an independent media always becomes the biggest hurdle in the way of their nefarious designs so Imran’s target is the biggest media group of the country. Imran levels allegations against the Jang Group on a daily basis and when he is asked to provide evidence he loses temper, ignores his previous allegation and comes up with a new one again without any evidence.

After finding himself helpless to present any evidence now he stooped so low as to start hurling naked abuses at the top editorial management and working journalists of Geo/Jang Group.

The hidden hands are also using some big-business-groups-turned-blackmailer-media-houses to attack Geo/Jang Group. Almost the entire media, news channels and newspapers, are siding with the independence of media, the Constitution and democratic values except these few.

All these media houses standing with the independence of media in these hard times have association of decades with the media and journalism. Only three media groups, which were set up a few years back by some business tycoons for gaining more influence and blackmailing tax authorities, are being used by these hidden hands to attack democracy and the independent media to fulfil the desired objectives.

Any sane and rational analyst would agree that no government can overcome all the major problems within one year and launching an attack on a democratic government within one year simply means the fishy designs of the hidden forces. Experts also see no signs of Imran Khan becoming prime minister using such dirty tactics

Senior anchorperson Kamran Khan said Imran Khan had the best chance to discuss all his demands with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who had invited him on tea. Kamran said Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar had also offered him to constitute a parliamentary committee.

Najam Sethi said he was in a state of shock as Imran Khan had stooped to the level of street politician and was acting childishly because of so-called ego problem. Sethi said Imran had backtracked from everything he said in the past from praises of Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and Fakhruddin G Ebrahim to allegation of rigging against the judiciary for which he had apologize to the Supreme Court. In categorical words, Najam Sethi said a third force that had panicked because of Geo News and democratic government of Nawaz Sharif had given the green signal to Imran Khan to attack.

Director programmes of Geo News Ansar Naqvi explained in detail the functioning of a TV channel, especially news channels which remain on air for 24 hours and tried its best to make PTI chief understand the process, techniques, procedures and routines followed during the continuous transmission. Ansar Naqvi spoke politely and explained to the PTI chief, who claims to be the leader of youngsters, that 24-hour channel transmission could not be controlled by one person, as it is not humanly possible.

Naqvi said he had been attached with the group for so many years and never got dictation from any person and even the owner of Jang Group. Naqvi said the staff, journalists and other professionals take their decisions on their own. He said majority of decisions regarding Geo News transmission were taken by him. He explained that at times when there’s a very important or sensitive thing or news it is discussed with other colleagues and seniors. Same practice is followed worldwide in professional and credible organisations.

Imran is completely unaware that he is being misused and believes that he will not have to give evidences to prove the allegations and naked abuses he is hurling at professional journalists. He will have to in any case.

Jang Group journalists are independent professionals and they round the clock by putting their lives at risk serve the country and poor Pakistanis. People like Imran playing in hands of hidden forces to get high offices unconstitutionally could never deter the courage and resolve of professional journalists.

The present educational programme of PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is funded by The Department for International Development (DFID) of the UK. However, during his baseless campaign against the Jang Group and its tremendous educational campaigns, Imran never mentioned that in addition to huge amounts of money he takes from Americans and other European states his government in the KP also accepts foreign funding from the British government. Not only this, many other projects of PTI government in the KP are funded by Americans.

 تحریک انصاف کے چیئرمین عمران خان نے جمعہ کو جیو ٹی وی اور جنگ گروپ کے خلاف جنگ کا آغاز کیا ہے جو پہلے ہی ’’محب وطن‘‘ قوتوں کی جانب سے زد پر ہے۔ انہوںنے بائیکاٹ کیلئے جو جواز پیش کیا ہے اس کی کوئی بنیاد نہیں بلکہ انہوں نے اپنی ساکھ کو مشکوک بنادیا ہے۔ حامد میر پر حملے کے بعد ان کے بیانات و باتیں ثابت کرتی ہیں کہ یا تو وہ فرشتوں میں گھرے ہوئے ہیں یا کنفیوژن میں پھنسے ہوئے ہیں کہ اپنے دوست چوہدری نثار کو درست ثابت کررہے ہیں جنہوں نے 2011میں تحریک انصاف کے اچانک عروج کا کریڈٹ آئی ایس آئی کے سربراہ (سابق) لیفٹیننٹ جنرل پاشا کو دیا تھا۔ ابتداء میں عمران خان نے جیو ٹی وی سے پاک فوج پر بے بنیاد الزامات لگائے پر معافی کا مطالبہ کیا، بعدازاں ان پر نئے راز منکشف ہوئے اور انہیں انتخابی دھاندلی میں چینل کے ملوث ہونے کا پتہ چلا جبکہ خود اعتراف کیا کہ ان کے پاس کوئی ثبوت نہیں ہیں۔ ان کی جماعت معذرت کرنے تک بائیکاٹ کرے گی۔ وہ پہلے بھی غلط تھے، وہ اب بھی غلط ہیں۔ میں ان سے چند سوالات پوچھنا چاہوں گا، کیا وہ واقعی یہ یقین رکھتے ہیں کہ اسپائی چیف پر قاتلانہ حملے کا الزام لگانا پوری ایجنسی کو ملوث کرنا یا بدنام کرنا ہے؟ اگر جواب اثبات میں ہے تو پی ٹی آئی کے ملوث کرنا یا بدنام کرنا ہے؟ اگر جواب اثبات میں ہے تو پی ٹی آئی کے سربراہ نے 2007میں یہ روایت قائم کی تھی اور انہیں دوسروں سے معافی کے مطالبے سے قبل خود معافی مانگنا چاہئے؟ 15جون 2007 کو تحریک انصاف کے سیکریٹری جنرل ایئر مارشل (ر) ذوالفقار نے پریس کانفرنس کی تھی (پی ٹی آئی کی ویب سائٹ پر اس کی تفصیل دیکھی جاسکتی ہے) کہ انٹیلی جنس ایجنسیوں نے عمران خان کو قتل کرنے کا منصوبہ بنایا ہے۔ انہوں نے صحافیوں کو بتایا تھا کہ عمران پر کسی حملے کی صورت میں ایف آئی آر ایجنسیوں کے سربراہان، صدر پرویز مشرف اور ایم کیو ایم کے سربراہ الطاف حسین کے خلاف درج کرائی جائے گی۔ کیا یہ غداری نہیں تھی؟لوگ حیران ہیں کہ ایجنسیوں کی دھمکی پر تحریک انصاف کے سربراہ کا اپنے لئے الگ اور دوسرے کیلئے الگ معیار ہے۔ دوسروں سے معذرت کا مطالبہ کرنے سے خود انہیں سرعام معافی مانگنی چاہئے، اسی طرح انہوں نے فاٹا میں فوجی آپریشن اور دہشت گردی سے متعلق کل جماعتی کانفرنس کو جنرل (ر) اشفاق پرویز کیانی (اس وقت کے آرمی چیف) کی بریفنگ کا غلط حوالہ دیا تھا۔ اہم رہنمائوں کے بند کمرہ اجلاس کی خفیہ گفتگو کو (درست یا غلط) عام کرنا اعتماد کو توڑنا تھا جبکہ حکومت نے جنرل کیانی کے حوالے سے ان کی بات کو غلط قرار دیا تھا اور واضح کیا تھا کہ جنرل کیانی نے درحقیقت کیا کہا تھا۔ انہوںنے اپنی غلطی تسلیم نہیں کی تھی، تاہم دوسروں کو نصیحت کرنے کا موقع نہیں چھوڑ رہے۔انکے دھاندلی کے الزام کی بھی کوئی تُک نہیں ہے، اس مسئلہ پر جیو ٹی وی کے بائیکاٹ کا اعلان تاوقتیکہ معافی نہ مانگ لے، عمران خان نے اعتراف کرلیا ہے کہ جیو کے ملوث ہونے سے متعلق ان کے پاس کوئی ثبوت نہیں ہے، دھاندلی کے الزام کی بنیاد جیو ٹی وی پر نواز شریف کی فتح کی تقریر کا نشر ہونا ہے، اس کو وہ ’’ٹھوس ثبوت‘‘قرار دیتے ہیں۔ ان کے الزامات کی میرٹ سے قطع نظر، یہ حقیقت واضح ہے کہ وہ جیو چینل کے شوقین ناظر ہیں، دیگر ٹی وی چینلز، اگر دیکھے ہوتے تو انہیں معلوم ہوجاتا کہ یہ تقریر صرف جیو پر ہی نشر نہیں ہوئی تھی، فرض کریں وہ صرف جیو ٹی وی ہی دیکھ رہے تھے تو وہ یہ کیوں نہیں دیکھ پائے کہ نواز شریف کی تقریر کے فوری بعد ان کے قریبی ساتھی اسد عمر نے کامران خان شو میں اظہار خیال کیا تھا۔ انہوں نے نہ صرف شریف برادران کو فتح پر مبارکباد دی تھی بلکہ خیبرپختونخوا میں تحریک انصاف کی جیت کی اطلاع بھی دی تھی۔ عمران خان کی منطق کے حساب سے کیا تحریک انصاف نے خیبرپختونخوا میںدھاندلی کی تھی۔اگر نہیں تو پارٹی کے انتخابی مہم کے منیجر اسد عمرکو کے پی کے میں فتح کا علم کیسے ہوا؟ جیو ٹی وی پر انتخابی مہم کے دوران ن لیگ کو زیادہ موقع اور وقت دینے کا بھی الزام لگایا گیا، یہ اسحاق دار کی الیکشن کمیشن پاکستان سےاس شکایت کے برعکس ہے جس میں انہوں نے کہا تھاکہ جیو کی کوریج غیرمنصفانہ ہے اور تحریک انصاف کے مقابلے میں ن لیگ کے ساتھ امتیاز برتا جارہا ہے۔ حتٰی کہ جنگ گروپ سے وابستہ کئی صحافیوں نے بھی جیو ٹی وی پر پی ٹی آئی کی غیرمتناسب کوریج کا نوٹس لیا تھا، پی ٹی آئی شکرگذار ہونے کی بجائے چینل کے خلاف ہوگئے ہیں، انتخابی مہم جب پورے عروج پر تھی، مختلف ٹی وی اینکرز پی ٹی آئی کے جیتنے کی پیش گوئی کررہے تھے، بطور صحافی، میں متجسس تھا کہ وہ اینکرز پی ٹی آئی کی ممکنہ فتح کے حوالے سے مطمئن یا پرامید کیوں ہیں؟ معلوم کرنے پر ان میں سے بعض نے بتایا کہ عمران خان نے کئی ٹی وی اینکرز کو لکھ کر دیا ہے کہ تحریک انصاف 125 نشستیں جیت لے گی۔ حیرانی تھی کہ پی ٹی آئی سربراہ کو یہ کیسے معلوم ہے؟ اور کس نے انہیں اتنا پراعتماد بنایا ہے؟ میں ان اینکرز کا بھی بہت ممنون ہوں جو فرشتوں کی فون کالز وصول کررہے تھے جو انہیں انتخابی صورتحال سے اپ ڈیٹ کررہے تھے کہ پی ٹی آئی بھاری فرق سے الیکشن جیتے گی۔ وہ مختلف سیاستدانوں کیلئے مختلف کوڈ نام استعمال کرتے تھے، ان میں سے ایک ڈاکٹر تھا، کیا کوئی بھی اینکر عوام کو بتائے گا ڈاکٹر کس کا نام تھا؟

اسلام آباد(عثمان منظور) تحریک انصاف کے سربراہ عمران خان نے بظاہر فرشتوں کی ایما پر جنگ گروپ کیخلاف بے بنیاد الزام تراشی کو اپنی عادت بنالیا ہے۔ 11 مئی کے انتخابات میں شکست کے بعد سے وہ دھاندلی کے خلاف شور مچاتے رہے ہیں اور پہلے پہل عدلیہ اور اب جنگ پر الزامات عائد کر رہے ہیں کہ انہوں نے اس کامیابی سے محروم کردیا ہے جس کے خواب فرشتوں نے انہیں دکھائے تھے۔گزشتہ سال جب جیو ٹی وی کی طرف سے پاکستان بمقابلہ سری لنکا سیریز کی نشریات کے حقوق کی کامیاب بولی کے بعد مقامی میڈیا اور غیر مرئی قوتوں کی رات کی نیندیں حرام ہوگئیں تو عمران خان نے الزام عائد کیا کہ نجم سیٹھی ( اس وقت چیئرمین پی سی بی تھے) نے جیو پر الزام تراشی کی ہے۔ تاہم عمران خان نے اس طرح کی دوسری سیریز (پاکستان بمقابلہ جنوبی افریقہ) کی نشریات کے حقوق ایک بھارتی سپورٹس چینل جس میں زی کے حقوق 95 فیصد ہیں اور اس کا صدر دفتر بھی ممبئی میں ہے کو دینے پر عمران خان خاموش رہے۔ ذیل میں عمران خان کیلئے کچھ حقائق بیان کئے جا رہے ہیں۔ یہ پہلا موقع تھا کہ ایک پاکستانی ٹی وی چینل نے ایک بین الاقوامی سیریز کے حقوق حاصل کئے اور اس کا مقصد پاکستان کمپنی کی بھارت اور پروڈکشن وسائل کو بہتر کرنا تھا۔ اہم بات یہ ہے کہ دونوں سیریز کے حقوق کی بولی کے عمل میں نجم سیٹھی کا کوئی کردار نہیں تھا۔یہ سارا عمل پی سی بی کی بولی کمیٹی کے ذریعے مکمل ہوا تھا۔ شفاف اور مسابقتی بولی کے ذریعے جیو کو نشریاتی حقوق دینے والی بولی کمیٹی کے چیئرمین احسان مانی تھے۔ احسان مانی آئی سی سی کے سابق صدر ہیں اور 2000ء سے آئی سی سی کے کمرشل حقوق کے معاملات دیکھ رہے ہیں۔ ان میں آئی سی سی کے کروڑوں ڈالر کے میڈیا حقوق شامل ہیں۔انہوں نے 1993ء سے ویسٹ انڈیز جنوبی افریقہ اور پی سی بی کے میڈیا حقوق کا انتظام و انصرام کیا ہے۔ وہ شوکت خانم میموریل کینسر ہسپتال کے 15 رکنی ٹرسٹی بورڈ کے بھی رکن رہے ہیں۔ وہ کینسر ہسپتال کے آڈٹ کمیٹی کے چیئرمین بھی رہے ہیں۔ بولی کمیٹی کے دیگر ارکان میں پی سی بی کے سی او او سبحان تھے (جو ایم بی اے ہیں اور کرکٹ کا 19 سالہ تجربہ ہے) بھی شامل تھے۔ وہ آئی سی سی کے ساتھ کام کرچکے ہیں اور انہوں نے 2003ء اور 2007ء کے ورلڈ کپ کے ایمرجنسی پلان بھی بنا لیا تھا۔ کمیٹی کا تیسرا رکن بدر خان تھے (چارٹرڈ اکائونٹنٹ ہیں اور کرکٹ فنانس کا تجربہ رکھتے ہیں) چوتھے رکن پی سی بی کے گورننگ بورڈ کے رکن رفیق بگھیو (انہوں نے سارے عمل کی نگرانی کی) اور ایک آزاد رکن جسٹس (ر) شبر رضا رضوی (انہوں نے سری لنکن ٹیم پر حملے کی رپورٹ بھی تیار کی تھی) شامل تھے۔ اس سارے عمل کی نگرانی ایک غیرجانبدار فرم ارنسٹ اینڈ ینگ (آڈٹ کے حوالے سے نمایاں کام ہے اور اس کی خدمات بولی کے عمل میں شفافیت سے متعلق رپورٹ کیسے حاصل کی گئیں) نے کی تھی۔سارے عمل کی کارروائی کے بعد بولی کمیٹی نے اپنی سفارشات پی سی بی کے گورننگ بورڈ کو پیش کی تھی۔ اس شفاف عمل نے جنوبی افریقہ اور سری لنکن سیریز کیلئے میڈیا حقوق کی اتنی بڑی پیشکش پر فروخت کرنے میں مدد کی جتنی رقم دبئی اور ابوظبی میں ہونے والی جنوبی افریقہ اور سری لنکن سیریز کیلئے ایک بھارتی چینل کے ساتھ 5 سالہ معاہدے سے حاصل ہوئی تھی۔ دراصل پی سی بی کو جنوبی افریقہ اور سری لنکا کی سیریز سے سابقہ سیریز کے مقابلے میں ایک ملین ڈالر کے قریب زیادہ رقم ملی تھی۔جیو ٹی وی نے 2008ء میں بھی 5 سال کیلئے میڈیا حقوق خریدنے کیلئے بولی دی تھی لیکن اس کو یہ حقوق نہیں ملے تھے حالانکہ اس وقت بھی بولی کمیٹی کے سربراہ احسان مانی ہی تھے۔ ٹین سپورٹس نے یہ حقوق 5 سال کیلئے حاصل کئے جو 2013ء میں ختم ہوگئے۔ پاکستان سری لنکا سیریز کے معاملے میں پی سی بی کی گورننگ باڈی (جس نے میڈیا حقوق کی منظوری دی) اور نجم سیٹھی اس سارے عمل سے باہر رہے۔یہاں یہ بات قابل ذکر ہیں کہ جنگ،جیو گروپ کی طرف سے عمران خان کو ایک قانونی نوٹس بھجوایا گیا تھا جس کا جواب دینے کے بجائے عمران خان نے اب آزادی صحافت کے نام پر جنگ گروپ کے کیخلاف پروپیگنڈا شروع کردیا ہے انہیں چاہیے تھا کہ وہ نوٹس کا جواب بھیجتے ۔ وہ اگر قانونی نوٹس سے عدم اتفاق کرتے تو جنگ گروپ انکے خلاف عدالت میں جاتا۔ جنگ گروپ کا اس نوٹس کا ذکر اس سے پہلے کبھی نہیں کیا جو باتیں آج اخباروں میں چھپ رہی ہیںان سے کہا گیا تھا کہ جنگ گروپ کی ساری چیزیں چیک کرلیں اور اپنے آڈیٹرز بھی لے آئیں مگر وہ نہیں آئے اب چونکہ الزامات لگائے جارہے ہیں اس لئے جنگ ، جیو گروپ کو اب عدالت میں جانا پڑیگا حالانکہ عمران خان کی پارٹی کے لوگوں کے شور مچانے پر ہی جنگ، جیو گروپ نے انہیں تمام متعلقہ چیزیں بھجوائی تھیں اور سب کچھ سمجھایا بھی تھادراصل بات یہ ہے کہ کچھ عرصے سے یہ لوگ فرشتوں اور مخصوص چینلز کے مخصوص لوگوں کے ایجنڈے کو آگے بڑھارہے ہیں جس میں جنگ گروپ کے خلاف بدنامی مہم کا ایجنڈا بھی شامل ہیں۔ یہاں یہ بات قابل ذکر ہے کہ عمران خان اس مخصوص چینل کے ایک پروگرام پانچ بار شرکت کرچکے ہیں ان کے علاوہ ایک لال ٹوپی والا بھی پروپیگنڈے میں بڑھ چڑھ کر حصہ لے رہا ہے۔عمران خان کی اطلاع کیلئے عرض ہے کہ پی سی بی نے عرب امارات میں مختلف مقامات پر 2 ہوم سیریز (ایک افریقہ اور دوسری سری لنکا کے خلاف) کیلئے 8 اگست 2013ء کو ٹینڈرز جاری کئے۔ ان میں دلچسپی رکھنے والی پارٹیوں سے سے تکنیکی اور مالی پیشکش طلب کی گئی تھیں۔ دو مرحلوں پر مشتمل اس عمل میں مالی اور تکنیکی پیشکشوں کو کھولنا تھا جس میں موخر الذکر کا مقصد مالی پوزیشن ، سپورٹس پروڈکشن کا تجریہ ، کمپنی کی ملکیت اور حصص کی تفصیلات کی جانچ اور کامیاب بولی کی صورت میں بولی دہندہ کے عالمی تقسیم کے منصوبے کا جائزہ لینا تھا۔ 30 اگست کو ایک محتاط جائزے کے بعد بولی کمیٹی نے ایک بھارتی چینل اور مبصر کی تکنیکی پیشکشوں کی منظوری دی اور پھر دوسرے یعنی مالی پیشکشوں کے کھولنے کا آغاز کیا۔ طے کردہ عمل کے مطابق بولی کمیٹی نے مالی پیشکشوں کے کھولے جانے سے قبل ہرسیریز کیلئے ریزرو پرائس کا اعلان کیا لیکن ٹین سپورٹس اور جیو دونوں اس پرائس پر پورے نہ اترے پھر دونوں کو ایک اور موقع دیا گیا کہ وہ اگلے روز یعنی 31 اگست 2013ء کو نظرثانی شدہ پیشکش جمع کرائیں۔ دوسرے رائونڈ میں سری لنکن سیریزکیلئے جیو کی پیشکش ریزرو پرائس سے بڑھ گئی جبکہ بھارتی چینل نے اپنی پہلی پیشکش برقرار کھی جو کہ ریزرو پرائس سے کم تھی اور اس کو کسی طور قبول نہیں کیا جاسکتا تھا۔ یوں جیو کو سری لنکن سیریز کے حقوق کیلئے کامیاب بولی دہندہ قرار دیدیا گیا۔ جنوبی افریقہ کی سیریز کے حقوق کیلئے دونوں یعنی جیو اور بھارتی چینل پی سی بی کے ریزرو پرائس کے برابر بولی نہ دے سکے اور بولی کمیٹی نے نسبتاً زیادہ ہونے کی بنا پر حقوق بھارتی چینل کو دینے کا فیصلہ کیا اگرچہ یہ زیادہ بولی بھی پی سی بی کی ریزرو پرائس سے 80 لاکھ ڈالر کے قریب کم تھے۔تاہم پی سی بی نے بولی کی دستاویزات کی شق کے مطابق مزید بات چیت کئے بغیر ہی بھارتی ٹی وی چینل کو حقوق دیدیئے تاہم معلوم نہیں کیوں عمران خان سمیت کسی نے بھی کوئی اعتراض نہ کیا۔اہم بات یہ ہے کہ عبدالرحمن بخاطر ٹین سپورٹس کے 50 فیصد حقوق بھارتی ٹی وی چینل زی ٹی وی کو 2006ء میں 57 ملین امریکی ڈالر میں فروخت کردیئے تھے اور زی ٹی وی نے مزید 32.2 فیصد حصص 31 ملین امریکی ڈالر کے عوض فروری 2010ء میں حاصل کرلئے اور بعدازاں 13.4 ملین ڈالر کے عوض مزید 12.8 فیصد شیئرز حاصل کرلئے ۔ یوں کمپنی میں 95 فیصد حصص حاصل کرلئے ۔ ٹین سپورٹس کے 95 فیصد کنٹرول حاصل کرنے کے بعد کارپوریٹ دفاتر اب ممبئی میں ہیں اور ساری لنکنگ اپ آپریشنز بھارت کے علاقے نوئیڈا سے ہو رہے ہیں۔ٹین سپورٹس کے پاس 2008ء تا 2013ء کے عرصے میں پاکستان کی ہوم سیریز کے حقوق تھے اور اس طرح میں کمپنی کے حصص کی ملکیت میں بڑی تبدیلیاں آئیں۔ کرکٹ بورڈز کی طرف سے کئے گئے زیادہ تر نشریاتی معاہدوں میں ایسی تبدیلیوں کو پہلے سے تحریری اجازت کے بغیر نہیں کرنے دیا جاتا۔ اس معاملے میں پی سی بی ہی وضاحت کرسکتا ہے کہ آیا اس نے ٹین سپورٹس کو اجازت دی تھی کہ 2009ء میں 2010ء کے عرصے میں جب بھارتی ٹی وی چینل زی کمپنی کے 95فیصد حصص حاصل کر رہی تھی وہ بورڈ کے میزبان براڈ کاسٹر کے طور پر کام کرتا ہے۔ عمران خان اس وقت خاموش رہے جب بھارتی چینل کے پاس 5 سال کیلئے میڈیا حقوق تھے اور جیو کو ایک سیریز کے حقوق مل گئے تو ان کی آنکھ کھل گئی۔

Mubasher Lucman misusing social media

The discovery of the Internet is like the discovery of the proverbial wheel of these modern times. With the development of the Internet came social media, which has taken everyone across the globe by storm. Pakistan has also become addicted to this form of media, as it allows people to not only connect with other people but also brings the world at their feet.

There is no doubt that Social Media is a great tool of communication, never seen before in history. If used properly social media has proved to be a force to be reckoned with and brought revolutions in the countries that haven’t seen change in decades.

Social media opened new windows into the global village allowing people of countries with strict media laws to tell the world of the atrocities in their country and show the real picture, that the main media didn’t or couldn’t report. Now everyone has a chance to tell their story.

Similarly, Pakistani media that has faced a lot of struggle under the dictators found this media emancipating. However, as usually happens in our country, we misused social media in the worst way possible. The main reason for this is that our morals are dying and we don’t value limits and courtesy.

We have become to believe that the vicious and rude one is the better. This bad trait is masked by the label of being ambitious. We think it is our right to lash out at everyone without weighing what is being given out, whether the news or information is authentic.

Ironically some media personnel in Pakistan, who are trained to work within certain boundaries, are the worst abusers of social media. They misuse their “star power” blatantly and spread anything on the social media including vicious gossip and abuse. Unfortunately, Pakistanis are gullible and accept everything without ever confirming whether the facts are correct or not.

Social media is being used as a propagandist’s tool only to defame others without thinking twice. These media personnel should refrain from using the social media in a negative way for their personal vendettas and grievances.

If Lucman was only spouting venom against a private person it was understandable that he had some issues there, but he is always criticizing the courts including the Honourable Supreme Court and its judges.

The Supreme Court should come down heavy on such people and bar them from putting up derogatory data about other without verification. Such people should face penalty.

One such bad fish in the Pakistani media is the loud and highly unreliable so-called journalist Mubasher Lucman, who not only uses the main media but also the social media to keep blowing his own trumpet and voicing his grievances against people who are successful in the field.

He has being airing episodes against a single person and his business ventures without fear of the court. Interestingly, Mubasher Lucman also gets away with abusing the courts and judges, and no action is taken against him. Isn’t it strange that no one takes action against him?

And because of this Lucman has spread his propaganda on to the social media, which reaches a larger audience. The courts must take action this defamation according to law.

It is sad to see an aged person like Mubasher Lucman act like an immature person on social media. He has no limits and thinks since he has a show on TV and is adept to handle social media, he has the right to use it only to spread negativity and say what he likes about anyone. He should grow up and improve his personality and manners and then criticize others.

If Mubasher Lucman sees himself as a media crusader and a Caesar among mortals in the media, then he should also remember that Caesar had many flaws and one of them was pride which was his undoing.

We would sincerely request Mubasher Lucman to take heed and not allow the sycophants around him misguide him. Lucman should remember that the media is a fickle mistress – it pleases you tremendously but it can ruin you in one go.
